Abstract

The author of the article summarizes the study of the problem “Agriculture and landownership in late feudal Dagestan”. The article presents historiography of the problem and the range of sources, on basis of which the problem was studied. The author focuses on the development of agriculture in Dagestan from the earliest times to the 18th century and on its state and place in the economic activity of the population of different regions and natural and geographic areas in the late feudal period. Much attention is given to landownership and land-utilization in late feudal Dagestan. The author considers all types of landownership: private (myulk), communal, mosque (Waqf), and tukhum tenure, their prevalence, role and importance in the social and economic development of the society.
