Abstract

In this article submitted by memories of an alien - Spanish officer Juan Van Galen direct participant of the Caucasian war that shed additional light in the history of the Caucasus. Interestingly, their participation in these wars, it considered as performing patriotic and civic duty with a sense of gratitude towards Russia, sheltering Shea it in a difficult time for him. Van Galen aims to give information about the country, attempts to analyze the geopolitical situation in the early 19th century. The need for conquest of the Caucasus Van Galen is not contested, as well as confidence in the ultimate achievement of this goal.
