Abstract

The article covers the presented in the Dagestan folklore image of the first Imam Ghazi-Muhammed, who suggested the idea of uniting the peoples of Dagestan and Chechnya in their national liberation struggle on the basis of Islam. In the legends and folk tales about the Caucasian War Ghazi-Muhammed was depicted as an epic hero, an ideal leader with leadership and visionary talent, who was willing to die for the faith. He was also invested with such high qualities as scholarship, courage, generosity.
